Human Resource Management for NGOs and Community Development


The course will examine Human Resource Management (HRM) in the context of NGO management; rationale for strategic HRM; hard and soft versions of HRM; qualitative, calculative and business-strategic aspect; communication, motivation and leadership; the barriers to implementation of effective HRM programmes; role of human resource practitioners; needs of NGOs’ and the people who work with them; values and ethical standards in NGOs; how to manage people effectively; employer-employee relations, negotiation and bargaining and development management; employment and HR services; case studies, role-play, and other animated techniques will be used in teaching.
